SnapMark privacy policy
Last updated: 2 October 2026
The short version
SnapMark does not collect, sell, or share your personal data. Screenshots stay on your computer unless you explicitly click "Get shareable link".
What the extension does with data
- Screenshots are captured only when you click a capture button or press a capture shortcut. They are processed locally in your browser.
- An image is uploaded to the share server only when you click "Get shareable link". Nothing is uploaded automatically.
- Your capture history (thumbnails, links, and the secret tokens that let you delete your uploads) is stored locally in your browser's extension storage. It never leaves your device.
- The extension has no analytics, no trackers, and no accounts.
What the share server stores
- Uploaded images (with EXIF and other metadata stripped on arrival) and their expiry settings. Expired and deleted images are permanently removed, including their files.
- A privacy-preserving, keyed hash of the uploader's IP address, kept briefly for rate limiting and abuse prevention. Raw IP addresses are not stored in the application database.
- For password-protected links: a salted scrypt hash of the password, never the password itself.
What we never collect
Browsing history, page contents you did not capture, keystrokes, form data, cookies from other sites, location, or any advertising identifiers.
Sharing
Anyone who has a share link can view that image until it expires or is deleted. Links are unguessable and marked not to be indexed by search engines. You can delete any of your uploads from the extension's History panel at any time.
